AFAF's 2011-2012 Regular Season Program Rules
Some of the guidelines for our regular season program may have changed since last season, so please look over the rules carefully.
Participant Eligibility & Repertoire
The regular program of the American Fine Arts Festival is open to Instrumentalists and vocalists of all nationalities, K-12, college-level and amateur adults. Participants must perform one piece or one song from the standard repertoire. Each piece must be a minimum of 16 measures in length. Auditions and performances must not exceed 7 minutes. Auditions/performances that exceed the maximum performance time will be considered ineligible.Performers are required to perform from memory.
Accompaniment
Please note that AFAF does not provide accompanists for auditions. Wherever possible, participants are encouraged to provide their own accompanist.
Auditions
There are two ways of auditioning for the regular program of the American Fine Arts Festival: through in-person auditions at one of our audition locations (Massachusetts, Washington, DC, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, and Bejing, China) or, for those students unable to make it to a live audition — by submitting a video recording by mail. Teachers will be notified of their students’ audition results via email within two weeks of the last audition date. more ››
Winners' Concerts & Awards
Participants who pass the auditions will be invited to perform in one of our Winners’ Concerts, to be held in April-June, 2012 in New York City. Concert dates will be anounced within two weeks of the last audition date. Festival winners chosen to perform in our Winners’ Concert series will be awarded Certificates of Excellence. Special Prize
In collaboration with the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation
The American Fine Arts Festival, in association with the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation (Moscow, Russia), is proud to inaugurate a special prize to be awarded to exceptional young participants of our regular season festival program. In addition to a special recital at Carnegie Hall, the prize includes five nights room and board in Moscow for the prize winner as well as one accompanying adult. While in Russia's capital, the prize winner will have the opportunity to give a recital in one of Moscow’s concert halls, participate in a master class with a member of the Moscow Conservatory faculty, as well as take advantage of various excursions around Moscow.
Please note that the prize does not include air travel — winners will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
